Youth Theatre was formed by a group of interested Senior Club members
who saw a need for young people to become involved in Theatre and to
learn the art of performance. We had staged the show "The Sound of
Music" in 1992 and over 100 children had auditioned for 12 parts. This
was not only time consuming for the Directors but showed the level of
interest Theatre holds for youth in Franklin. It was apparent to the Club that if we trained our own young then we would have a pool to draw on for future shows and also as they matured we would have well trained senior members. We decided that the age range should be 10 -14 years old. We are very firm on this as we feel any younger than 10, youth members can not meet the demands necessary; older than 14 and their School Certificate year could be jeopardised. |
