 One of the greatest strengths of the club is it's Youth Theatre where many new talents have started and helped build the club to where it is today. Although many have been involved in this a driving force has been Mary Gray who has been Produced and Directed of all the Youth Theatre shows to date. |

Youth Theatre was formed by a group of interested Senior Club members
who saw a need for young people to become involved in Theatre and to
learn the art of performance. We had staged the show "The Sound of
Music" in 1992 and over 100 children had auditioned for 12 parts. This
was not only time consuming for the Directors but showed the level of
interest Theatre holds for youth in Franklin.

Following auditions in March 1995, 70 children were selected from 170
for the production "Bugsy Malone". The children involved came from all
over the Franklin Area, ie. Mangatangi, Bombay, Pukekawa, Tuakau,
Drury, Ramarama, Onewhero, Pokeno, Puni, Waiuku as well as Pukekohe. |

From the cast of "Bugsy Malone", 30 children who had showed huge
commitment, maturity of attitude and keenness to continue their acting
were selected to attend a Theatre Workshop. They spent 5 months working
on Shakespeare's "Macbeth", performed as an actors and audience
introduction to Shakespeare. The format was selected classic scenes
which were then linked with modern narration. The second half of the
programme was a play entitled "Just Kidding", a comedy written and
performed by the group. There were four performances at the end of July
with an overall 70% attendance by the public. |

Auditions were held in July for the rock musical "Robyn and her Women
of Sherwood". Many of the children involved previously were accepted
and we welcomed many new members. Four months of hard work was carried
out by all concerned and "Robyn" was staged in November with 11
performances having an overall 70% attendance.
