Ah, Shakespeare. The great bard. You've heard he's a terrific writer. One of these days, you may actually get around to catching one of his plays. Yeah, right. Well, with the help of the Pukekohe Light Opera Club, not only can you catch all of Shakespeare's plays at once, but you can have a riotous good time doing so.
Three actors performing 37 plays in less than two hours. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), is a slapstick show that summarises the playwright's stage work (with the sonnets thrown in). Never read Titus Andronicus? No problem; it's presented here as a cooking show. Can't keep your Shakespearean histories straight? Visualise them as a rugby game. Wondering what exactly is the deal with that guy Othello? Hear his story as a rap song. Whether you know Shakespeare inside out or have yet to read a word of him, The Works will have you in stitches.

Kelvin Jones (Manukau Performing Arts) |
|
|
From: Margaret Scott
It is with deep and sincere sorrow and regret that we must send this message.
Kelvin Jones passed away on Sunday 3rd of February 2008.
Kelvin has been very much a part of MPA and Spotlight theatre since he joined the club in 1995 when he took part in the production of Grease. Since then Kelvin has taken on many roles within the Theatre including onstage roles (both male and female!), direction, serving on committee as well as completing a term as President. Kelvin could always be relied on to help out when ever the 'call to arms' was put out. He was truly passionate about theatre, and especially about MPA, and this was always reflected in everything he did for us and with us.
