Presidents Report Jan 2012

2012 is a year of great changes for PLOC and we hope you will join us for the ride.

Happy New year everyone I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas perios with family and friends and have refreshed and recharged the batteries ready for 2012 and what it promises.  I found standing halfway up a mountain at the top of the Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers on boxing day morning after an amazing helicopter flight absolutely memorable and a very surreal experience.

As you may have gathered from the recent newpaper article Front page no less. We now have business team lead by John Knappett who’s primary Objective is to not only keep the club going but to raise our profile make us the premiere event in Franklin.  The business team have been extremely busy over the last 3 months and have secured Ross Jennings as artistic director for the Club.  Ross has a truly impressive reputation in the production business and we are fortunate to have him on board.  He has put together a calendar of shows for the club that will see us either hosting or presenting around 12 shows this year.  One of the objectives of the business team and the committee is to rebrand the club.  So if anyone would like to put forward a new name for the club or the theatre or both that reflects the vision and what we are about please drop us a line.

We are also looking at revamping our front of house and entrance as you can see in this newsletter. This year the club celebrates its 40th anniversary.  One way or another we are going to have a great event to celebrate.  If any members would like to be part of planning these celebrations let us know.  We want to hear from you and how you want to celebrate this milestone the club has a lot of history and we need to celebrate this milestone.  2012 is a year of great changes for us and we hope you will join us for the ride.
