From: Margaret Scott It is with deep and sincere sorrow and regret that we must send this message. Kelvin Jones passed away on Sunday 3rd of February 2008. Kelvin has been very much a part of MPA and Spotlight theatre since he joined the club in 1995 when he took part in the production of Grease. Since then Kelvin has taken on many roles within the Theatre including onstage roles (both male and female!), direction, serving on committee as well as completing a term as President. Kelvin could always be relied on to help out when ever the 'call to arms' was put out. He was truly passionate about theatre, and especially about MPA, and this was always reflected in everything he did for us and with us. Kelvin was one of those people who became synonymous with MPA. He was quite often described as the heart and soul of any MPA, and I know that he always considered MPA to part of his heart and soul. Kelvin touched the lives and hearts of so many people not just within the MPA family but with many other societies, and for this he will never be forgotten. He will live on in our hearts and memories, through MPA and all its members. Our thoughts and condolences go to his family in this time of grieving. We, as a club are opening the theatre from 3pm, tomorrow 6th Feb 2008 to all who wish to gather for a time to share and be with friends. Everyone is welcome. (Please BYO food and drink). If you have any photos (both digital and printed) please feel free to bring these along as we are compiling a visual display to be shown at the celebration of Kelvin’s life on Monday 11th February, 11am at Manukau Memorial Gardens. Kelvin’s family are very keen for us to be involved in this celebration, so any ideas or stories would be greatly appreciated.
